Forever Garlic-Thyme
Garlic and
Thyme:
One of natures many bounties
coming together in superb combination offered only at Forever Living Products.
If Garlic has been created in the laboratory instead of by nature, it would definitely be a high priced prescription drug. That's how good it really is! Medical studies show that Garlic - the aromatic seasoning , people either love or hate, can lower cholesterol, prevent dangerous blood clots, reduce blood pressure, prevent cancer and protect the body from bacterial and fungal infections.
Garlic has many healing attributes in its favor. It is antifungal and antibacterial which means it will help to heal athletes foot, jock itch and ringworm by taking it internally and externally. It can also assist with the healing of a yeast infection. Besides warding off vampires it can also fend off a cold, flu or sore throat due to its allicin content.
In one of natures great ironies, raw garlic has little biological activity. But when you damage the garlic clove, the enzyme Allinase gets converted to Allicin, which gives garlic its characteristic odour. Allicin is rapidly oxidised and more than 100 biologically active sulfur containing cmopounds, proteins and saponins are created as a result of this oxidation.
Healing with Garlic:
Research is showing promising
results in garlic's ability to fight off cancer cells, especially the cells
that attack the digestive system, the breast and the prostate gland. A chemical
called allyl sulfide is thought to be responsible for the cancer fighting ability.
Garlic also has the ability to make your blood thinner and less sticky, which means it helps to prevent the platelets from building plaque up in your arteries. This helps to maintain the flexibility of the arteries in the heart. That means that the heart won't have to work so hard to do a normal job. Some drugs reduce the formation of internal blood clots. But Garlic does all these things!
Garlic also helps to reduce blood sugar levels in the both animals and humans. Diabetes is a serious condition requiring professional treatment. But if you are a diabetic, there is a lot good in upping your garlic consumption in addition to the standard therapy.
Thyme has been used for centuries and was even written about by the famed herbalist Nicholas Culpepper, who felt Thyme had no counter part, which was as effective in treating whooping cough.
Antiseptic:
Thyme contains a compound
called Thymol which can be found in mouthwashes(Listerine) toothpastes and body
powders (Gold Bond). Thymol is effective against bacteria and fungus Thyme can
be chewed fresh, for a sore throat and even bad breath.
Antispasmodic:
Methylchavicol
another healing element, which is in Thyme, is able to soothe sore and cramped
muscles.
Vermifuge:
Thyme has long
been a remedy for expelling and killing intestinal worm, especially in children.
Expectorant:
Thyme has been
used in cough syrups because of its ability to break up congestion, and was
once used as treatment for childhood asthma.
Tonic:
Recent research
from Scotland suggests that thyme may help all organs to function smoothly and
to help counteract free radicals in the body, which cause aging.
Besides it is only in this wonderfully synergetic combination with Garlic, the thymol present in thyme, is extremely effective in combating the relatively offensive odour of Garlic!
Canola oil is another ingredient in the soft gel Garlic and thyme capsule. The quantity although small, contributes very largely in also combating the diseases of the heart. This is because low levels of saturated fatty acids; a relatively high level of monounsaturated fatty acid and a medium level of polyunsaturated acids characterize Canola oil. By now we all know our good fats from our bad fats. The general dietary recommendations for reducing the blood cholesterol is to reduce the intake of saturated fatty acids and increase the intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids, thereby fighting heart disease.
All in all the combination of these two herbs and canola oil, create a magnificent formula, that is the most powerful antioxidant and decongestant which helps in the crusade against lethal diseases like cancer, arthritis, cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes and nerve disorders.
Garlic is
a supplement, which we have taken in our family for many years, to combat sinus
and catarrh problems, for which it has proved to be very effective.
The History of Garlic:
Garlic originated in Central Asia, and was brought to Britain by the Romans.
Apart from its legendary powers to ward off Dracula, it has been credited with
being everything from an inhalant, to relieving whooping cough in children,
to holding the secret of eternal life - so the ancient Greeks believed. Whatever
the truth of those claims, the first real proof that garlic is good for you
came in 1858, when Louis Pasteur established that it had the power to kill or
stop the growth of harmful bacteria, and today we are beginning to understand
how it works as a remedy.
The Chemistry of Garlic:
Garlic is very complex. In all garlic bulbs and cloves there is a substance
called Alliin, which is the principal active ingredient, and is a non-smelling
amino acid. As soon as raw garlic is mechanically disrupted (i.e. crushed or
cut), a chemical known as Allinase acts upon Alliin to form a polysulphide,
called Allicin. This gives garlic its charachteristic odour. Allicin is the
main active ingredient in the FLP Garlic odour. Allicin is the main active ingredient
in the FLP Garlic-Thyme capsule, and is a very powerful bacterial fighting agent.
Other key ingredients are: Ajoene - an anti-clotting agent, Lecithin - cleans
out fatty deposits, like cholesterol and helps the metabolism convert fats to
energy, Thyme - which contains tannin, phenol, and thymol which are all saponins.
Saponins are anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-oxidants. They help beat bronchitis
and soothe the digestive system.
In humans and mammals, the ageing process is linked to a steady and progressive
decline in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA's). These are important components
in every living cell, and help keep membranes fluid and strong. The key factor
proved to be the high level of anti-oxidants in thyme, which supplements taken
by the mother could provide the newborn with a viable protection system. Doctor
Stanley Deans at the Scottish Agriculture College, Ayr, believes that adding
thyme to your diet in whatever form is good. Even though you might not take
it in significant quantities on any one occasion, it as a cumulative effect.
Garlic is also a good source of nutrients. It is low in fat, sodium, and is
cholesterol free, and it contains useful amounts of potassium, calcium, magnesium,
B vitamins and vitamin C. Garlic also contains germanium, a mineral believed
to help boost the body's immune system, and selenium, another trace element
with anti-oxidant properties.
Garlic-Thyme can be effective on:-
Heart Disease & Stroke
Garlic's greatest therapeutic potential lies in helping prevent coronary heart
disease and strokes. In many studies the results have shown a significant decrease
in blood levels of low-density lipo protein (LDL). This is the 'bad' cholesterol,
which sticks to the artery walls, increasing the risk of heart disease. At the
same time there was a corresponding increase in high-density lipo protein (HDL),
the 'good' cholesterol that does not stick to the artery walls.
High Blood Pressure
High blood pressure is described as the 'silent killer', and therefore it is
essential that levels be kept as near normal as possible. There are many prescription
drugs designed to lower blood pressure, and whilst they are effective, they
can have side effects in some people. Only recently the prestigious medical
journal, The Journal of Hypertension, reported that garlic tablets could reduce
systolic blood pressure by 5%.
Along with lowering cholesterol, garlic reduces high blood pressure by dilating
the blood vessels, and helps prevent the formation of blood clots, which can
lead to thrombosis and stroke.
For centuries Chinese and Japanese physicians have recommended garlic to alleviate
high blood pressure.
Free Radical Damage
Garlic works as a powerful anti-oxidant by inhibiting the formation of free
radicals. These are the highly reactive particles, which oxidize LDL cholesterol
and encourages it to clog arteries.
Diabetes
Garlic also inhibits the rise of blood sugar after meals, so it may be helpful
to diabetics.
Internal Disorders
Apart from the effect on circulatory disease, Garlic has been used successfully
to treat intestinal disorders, and to improve the quality of the bacteria naturally
present in the gut, which aids digestion. Hippocrates recommended garlic as
a laxative, diuretic and cure for tumours of the uterus.
Colds, Coughs and Asthma
As an expectorant, Garlic is also used to treat asthma and brochitis, to ward
off colds and reduce catarrh. An Egyptian papyrus dating from 1500 BC, listed
22 garlic prescriptions for complaints such as headaches, throat disorders,
and physical weakness.
Antibiotic
Interestingly, garlic is the only antibiotic, which at the same time as killing
bacteria also encourages digestion, and protects the body against poisons produced
by the infection. In 1944 a chemist named Chester J Cavoletto, identified garlic's
smelly compound, Allicin as an antibiotic.
Candida Albicans
Garlic is a safe, very powerful anti-fungal agent. Clinical trials showed that
if you place crushed garlic near a culture of Candida Albicans, even the fumes
will the fungi.

Description And Purpose :
The dietary uses of garlic and thyme have been traced back thousands of years.
An Egyptian papyrus dating from 1500 BC listed 22 garlic prescriptions for complaints
such as headaches, throat disorders and physical weakness. However, the first
real evidence of garlic's powerful properties came in 1858, when Louis Pasteur
discovered that it had the power to eliminate the growth of harmful bacteria,
and today we are starting to understand how it works as a remedy. The National
Library of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland, has more than 100 scientific papers
relating to garlic published since 1983.
Garlic is a complex plant. The principal active ingredient in raw garlic is
allicin. When garlic is cut or crushed, the allicin reacts wit the enzyme allinase,
also prevent in the garlic, and produces allicin. This is what gives garlic
its charachteristically pubgent smell. Allicin is a very powerful bacteria-fighting
agent, which enters the bloodstream and disinfects the lungs, bowels and skin.
Allicin is the main active ingredient in Forever Living's Garlic-Thyme supplement.
Other active ingredients include ajoene, an anti-clotting agent and lecithin
which helps clean out fatty deposits like cholesterol, and helps in the metabolism
convert fats to energy. Garlic's sulphur compounds are anti-fungal and antibacterial,
making it effective in a variety of health problems including 'flu and candida
albicans. They also help garlic to protect the body against free radicals, making
it a powerful antioxidant.
Garlic also contains germanium, a mineral trace element believed to help boost
the body's immune system and selenium, a trace mineral antioxidant.
Thyme contains Tannin, Phenol, and Thymol (saponins). These are bacterial and
anti-fungal and can help relieve brochitis, soothe the digestive system and
are powerful antioxidants.
Other beneficial nutrients contained in Garlic-Thyme are potassium, calcium,
magnesium, B vitamins and Vitamin C.
