"Health
Food" Store Aloe Drinks and Products
Unfortunately
a majority of "Health Food" stores sell aloe products that
are incredibly inferior in quality in order to keep profits
up.
Running
these stores requires a huge amount of overhead, requiring
products to be purchased cheaply and marked up considerably
(usually 300% to 1,000% and more). Stores in malls have even
larger overhead and require an even greater profit margin.
We
are constantly asked about two very popular aloe drinks sold
in major health food store chains. These drinks are very poor
quality, and have never been received the IASC "Seal of Approval".
Yet they sell like hotcakes because they are so cheap (compared
to good, quality drinks) and people don't know the difference.
How
do you get cheap aloe drinks and sell them for a significant
profit? Simple. Order F.D.A. approved "aloe" which contain
one gallon of water, and about 3 tablespoons of Aloe so you
can legally label it "100% Aloe Vera Juice" and sell that
to an uninformed, unsuspecting public. (It is very likely
that even the employees don't even know this.)
That's
right. According to the FDA, you can put 3 tablespoons of
Aloe in a gallon of water and label that gallon as " 100%
Aloe Vera Juice". Amazing, isn't it?
If
the Aloe you are drinking is clear, very thin (or even just
watery), and you can read printed materials through the bottle
(if the bottle is clear), then you should consider changing
brands. What you have now won't hurt you, but it most likely
isn't doing anything to help you, either.
Much
the same applies to most of the Aloe-based skin care products
you find in many health food stores too - very inferior. Finally,
you don't know the manufacturer of these products. For all
you know, they buy Aloe in bulk barrels and they can sit there
for up to a year, or more, before processing. In many cases,
this is - sadly - fact. The simple fact is, if you bought
it in your local grocery store or health food store it probably
isn't of high enough quality to justify the few dollars spent
on it. You're most likely wasting your time, efforts, hopes,
and money.
